Frill head on the left and……SOMETHING ON THE RIGHT no idea what it is haha.
Frill head’s are sapient critters; I don’t know much about the other guys.

I think all of the races I draw have at least one arthropod like attribute to them somewhere in the mix! I’m glad you noticed~
The Glass Crest lives in both cold arctic areas and deserts. The deserts in Laynair contains soft blue and brown sand. There are random ‘crystal storms’ where shards grow in patches and along trees. The crystals are not stable, they soon melt and the ground becomes slick resulting in an icy looking landscape.
These guys change their pigment in according to these seasons in the desert. The arctic Glass Crest have darker colors along with blue and white.
They have to stay hidden as they are ambush predators and are also hunted for their skin; horns and meat.
They see with heat and live on a purely liquid diet, attacking prey with tube like structures that make up their odd mouths.
Old as heck but I still like it.
There is a season in Laynair where a growth of clear mush crystal shaped growths begin to form on the ground. Over a month it starts to melt and harden along the landscape creating a glassy texture all over the land. The ‘crystals’ are a variety of colors mostly blues and greens. Eventually it cracks and turns to a fine grain and blows away.
I decided to doodle a Glass Crest walking around in that particular season.

Piotr is one of the best animal photographers ever, and his Mozambique entries are not disappointing. His latest entry, “Mozambique Diary: Alipes“, recounts his finding a bizarre centipede, pictured below. It’s so new, in fact, that I don’t think it yet has a species name: it’s simply called Alipes (the genus) “sp.” (species).
Have a look at this baby, and realize that those appendages are not in the front, but are the modified rear legs of this arthropod. And their function is completely unknown.
Rear legs, shmear legs. I want to know the function of that sweet handlebar mustache.

Reedfish (Erpetoichthys calabaricus)
Also known as the ropefish or snake fish, the reedfish is an ancient species of fish related to bichir native to western Africa. Reefish usually inhabit slow-moving brackish/fresh water but can also survive in water with low dissolved oxygen content, due to a pair of lungs. These lungs allow them to survive for a small amount of time outside of the water. When they are in the water they feed nocturnally on worms, crustaceans and insects. Their peaceful and inquisitive nature and unique appearance have made the ropefish a popular fish in the aquarium trade.

Took a break from my nightmare of a giant background project to work on some Eye Sphinxes which turned out to be Tiny baby Six. I’m calling her Six because of her limbs since I don’t have another name for her. Six grows up to become a giant gangly thing who is still cute as can be..but little Six you just want to curl up in your arms and go LOOK AT YOU YOU..MULTILEGGEDEYEBALLTHING.
She wanted to become her own nightmare with her legs and then I decided I wanted to make her mane look like fur while in flats. Then I decided to do her tail which looks likle someone put it in the dryer.
Six honey you’re part rabbit, part tree, part something with a hoof (deer or something), but that doesn’t mean the rabbit who has floppy ears wants you in her space. She was napping and all of a sudden wakes up to an EYE..which she doesn’t know can open into a mouth.
Six is just curious..and the bunny is confused. Those that don’t know about Six, she has two back legs on one side, and two front arms on the other.
I was away at a wedding for a family member over the weekend and I will be away tomorrow until friday on another trip. When I’m back I’m going to fight my major project again and..cry more and try to get it at least to coloring before summer school starts June 3. I’m going to have night classes so that will be fun.
I have some pretty nature pictures from the area the wedding was in I’ll upload once I”m back. They’re nice for reference to me anyway and came out nice. I’ll probably reblog this in the morning or something and be like BEBACKFRIDAY tell me what I miss.
I think the bunny’s colors are cute haha. I should draw her again. I also put up the gradient backgrounds so the background isn’t just..white. Do people prefer that or white backgrounds?
Eye Sphinx’s, Six, and bunny here that is perturbed are with me. I’m sure that bunny wants to be anywhere else.
